New York –

Don’t accuse TSA of taking a nap at work. He paused when security at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport noticed a tuft of orange fur sticking out of his slightly unzipped suitcase.

TSA agents were surprised when the bag passed through the X-ray room on Nov. 16. Inside were his four legs and the tail of a stowaway cat.

“On the bright side, the cat is out of the bag,” a TSA spokesperson tweeted on Tuesday.

Passengers were summoned back to the ticket counter after the cat was found, spokesperson Lisa Ferbstein said in an email.

“The traveler implied that the cat belonged to someone in the family and didn’t know the cat was in the suitcase,” Ferbstein said.

“Nice CATch!” she said.

The stowaway cat, identified by the New York Post as “smelly”, has been returned to its owner.

The cat’s owner told The Post that Smells must have sneaked into a visiting friend’s suitcase. I did not know.
