Previously, Porter only flew from Billy Bishop Airport in Toronto, but the airline will soon offer service from Pearson to Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, Halifax, Edmonton, Calgary, and some routes. will start on February 1st.
The company also says it will eventually fly from Pearson to destinations in the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean.
The new plane, the Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, offers an “advanced” flying experience, says Porter. 100 of these models will be added to Porter’s existing fleet.
Porter added that the Embraer E195-E2 is “the greenest single-aisle aircraft” and is up to 65% quieter and up to 25% cleaner than previous generation aircraft.
Travelers get free high-speed WiFi on flights, and meals are provided on long-haul trips.
With a 2×2 cabin configuration, no one is stuck in the middle seat.
The aircraft has 132 seats and also has in-seat power.
Starting February 1st, the route is from Toronto to Ottawa and Montreal. Over the next few weeks in February, the company says it will roll out routes to Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary respectively.
Service from Billy Bishop Airport will continue to be provided by Porter on the “regional” route.
