The lights came back on Thursday afternoon after a temporary outage to thousands of customers in Scarborough.

Toronto Hydro first reported the outage at 2:36pm.

In a tweet posted just over an hour later, Ontario-based utility Hydro One, the electricity transmission and distribution company, announced that service had been restored to all affected customers.

Shortly after the blackout, Toronto Hydro posted a blackout map showing many areas of Scarborough affected with up to 5,000 customers. The affected area was roughly demarcated from Shepard Avenue to St. Clair Avenue and from Birchmount to Bellamy Road.

In a tweet, Toronto police cautioned drivers to treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
