Twitter Folds Brussels Office, Sparking E.U. Officials Concerns

The last two pillars of the Brussels office, Julia Mozer and Dario La Nasa, reportedly left the company last week.

Mozer and La Nasa were responsible for Twitter’s digital policies in Europe, including compliance with the EU’s Disinformation Code and the Digital Services Act, which aims to limit the spread of illegal content online.

The dissolution of the Brussels office comes at a crucial time when the Digital Services Act came into force last week, and EU officials are concerned Twitter will not follow these new rules.

Věra Jourová, vice president of the European Union’s disinformation code, told the Financial Times in writing: variety.

Jourová also said, “We expect Twitter to fully respect EU law and respect EU commitments.”

She said Twitter has been “a very useful partner in the fight against disinformation and illegal hate speech, and this should not change.”

A policy maker warned Twitter that “European law continues to apply to Twitter, regardless of who owns it.”

“Musk should not underestimate our determination to bring responsibility and accountability to the big platforms. I will not admit that,” continued Jourová.
