BC Emergency Medical Services said it received a call about the police incident in Coquitlam at 3:52 p.m. and deployed two ambulances, but no patient was transported.
It’s not yet clear where the incident started, but videos posted on social media suggest it traces several parts of Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam.
Witness video taken in the Roheed Highway and Schoolhouse Road area of Coquitlam shows a person in a black hoodie driving down the highway when he heard what appeared to be at least three gunshots, followed by a I hear what looks like a police officer walking by. .
Another eyewitness video taken at the intersection of Lawheed Highway and Shaughnessy Street showed police armed with rifles crouching as they tried to drive through stopped traffic.

Another large crime scene appeared to be on Highway 1 near the King Edward Flyover. The route was partially closed westbound due to a police incident, according to Drive BC.
Witness Peter Radefoged told Global News that he saw a black car parked on Highway 1 near the Ikea store, where police were searching.
“The highway was closed westbound by the King Edward Viaduct,” he wrote. “A black Mercedes was sitting in the left two lanes. The trunk was open and his ERT holding the AR and his normal RCMP were around it and someone else was inspecting it. rice field.”
