Ryan Bunyan of Vancouver Island was driving west on Route 14 Sunday afternoon when he spotted a car carrying a mattress. He sensed trouble as only the load did not appear to be properly secured to the roof.
“If you look closely, the car already had a double kayak holder attached to it, not the car,” Bunyan told CHEK News. ), I immediately decided to record it.”
The mattress eventually flew out of the car and landed in the center left turn lane, missing Bunyan, who managed to film a video of the dangerous ordeal just outside Langford.
“My phone is in a holder so I can record it anytime,” he said. “Then he ripped the kayak holder off and flew off the roof, narrowly escaping me.”
Meanwhile, another driver made a U-turn after his mattress fell on the road.

Police did not receive a call about the incident, but West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer Nancy Sagar told CHEK News that the detachment’s traffic unit is currently investigating.
