Barry police locate two women suspected of animal cruelty, mother and daughter, after a number of dogs and cats in need of urgent veterinary treatment were found in two cars at a local hotel I am asking for public assistance to do so.

On Friday, police were alerted to a “problem with numerous dogs and cats in two cars parked at a hotel on Blind Drive.”

In a news release, Barry Police said they had received complaints from concerned citizens about the health of the animals.

Police conducted an investigation and eventually sought assistance from the Ministry of Animal Welfare and Internal Affairs.

“It was clear that many animals were sick and needed immediate veterinary care. I needed surgery,” the release reads.

“The female owners of the animals involved in this investigation were evasive and used the kindness of many local and church organizations to obtain supplies and financial support. Numerous misunderstandings.”

Police did not specify exactly what the alleged misunderstanding was.

Two women, aged 54 and 23, reportedly left the Barry area without paying for the surgery that “saved the life of a seriously ill German shepherd” managed by the Barry OSPCA, police said. .

They are now wanted for crimes under the state Animal Welfare Services Act and criminal law.

They were last seen traveling in two cars, a 2008 beige Dodge Caravan and a 2003 grey/silver Toyota Highlander with a small utility trailer.

Police say they know the two women are from Sarnia, Ontario. They also know their names, but have chosen not to publish them.

“Our primary concern is now focused on the health and well-being of the other animals we travel with, including recently born puppies,” the release reads. .
