A Mount Pearl man has pleaded guilty to killing his female passenger while driving under the influence of alcohol.

A guilty plea was filed this morning by defense attorney Mark Gruchy on behalf of his client, 29-year-old Tyler Harding.

Harding was the driver of the Ford Ranger that crashed along the Torbay Bypass Road in the early hours of August 8, 2021.

He survived, but his passenger, a 29-year-old woman from Torbay, died at the scene.

Harding was formally indicted two months later, with several release condition violations added after the fact.

The case, sadly, is similar to one that took place in court just two days ago, in which a man from Gules was sentenced to five and a half years.

Three-time convict Jonathan Nash was also a drunk driver when his car crashed on Pitts Memorial Drive in 2020, killing a passenger and his girlfriend.

Tyler Harding’s sentencing is scheduled for April 6th, when the court will hear how the crash changed the lives of so many people forever.
