Highway 1: Multiple Jackknives

Multiple transport trucks are believed to have been jackknife-killed in an incident that closed the Trans-Canada Highway between Sycamas and Revelstoke overnight.

First reported by DriveBC around 1 a.m., the incident closed the freeway between Bolin Road and Highway 23 South east of Craigellachie.

A 40-kilometer section of the route was closed, but DriveBC reported that the route had reopened to single-lane alternating traffic as of 6:15 am.

Motorists are advised to expect delays.

DriveBC reported another incident inside the closed area while clearing traffic on the highway west of Revelstoke.

A driver who reported multiple 18-wheelers being jackknifed near the Enchanted Forest is stuck in closure.

“Westbound traffic is far away,” one reader told Castanet.

Drivers are advised to pay attention to traffic regulations and slow down for the winter months.
