Pedestrian dead, Good Samaritan injured in Brampton crash

One female pedestrian has died and the Good Samaritan who tried to help her is in critical condition after a crash in Brampton on Friday morning, Peel District Police say.

Police said they responded to reports that two female pedestrians were attacked around 5:45 a.m. on Heritage Road and Steeles Avenue.

“Police officers arrived on the scene and sadly found one female pedestrian without vital signs, causing her to die on the spot. Another was taken to a trauma center with serious injuries.” said Const. Mandeep Katra said at the scene Friday morning.

Police said the deceased pedestrian was 41 years old and the woman in the hospital was 30.

Khatra said there were multiple vehicles involved in the crash. Two vehicles remain at the scene, and one vehicle remains prominent, his SUV, which is mid-sized. It was last seen heading west on Steels Avenue.

“I strongly advise drivers to contact the police, consult an attorney and call as soon as possible,” he said.

Khatra said the first pedestrian was on the east side of the intersection crossing the south before he was hit by an eastbound vehicle.

“Sadly, she landed in the westbound lane and was hit again by another vehicle traveling westbound. The second vehicle is what we are looking for.”

Khatra said the woman was run over again by a third vehicle, which remained at the scene.

A second pedestrian involved went to help the woman and was hit in the process, Khatra said.

Brampton crash

“She tried to help the first victim and appears to have been beaten in the process. She appears to be recovering but her condition is still critical in the hospital,” he said. rice field.

“We are very sorry that this has occurred, but as for the second vehicle involved, please know that this is a busy intersection with heavy traffic and many cameras in the area. We recommend that you contact the police as soon as possible,” he added.

The intersection is blocked on all sides as the police are investigating.

The area is expected to remain closed for an extended period of time, police said.
