The Toronto Raptors’ recent win came with a surprise appearance from comedy legend Will Ferrell.
The Raptors faced the Portland Trail Blazers in Oregon on Saturday night and were trying to bounce back from a crushing loss to the Golden State Warriors the previous night.
During the game the Raptors went on to win, Ferrell hilariously punched the Raptors’ bench and at one point stood up and looked down at them, stitching up Raptors rookie Christian Koroko.
Ferrell’s antics were captured by Open Gym, a series showcasing behind-the-scenes video footage of Raptors games, practices, and events.
“How much does Boucher weigh? 142 [lbs]” asked Ferrell on the bench after Chris Boucher, who played college basketball for Oregon State, scored on a putback slam.
Ferrell appeared to be rooting for his hometown Blazers, but after slamming a reverse dunk, he recognized last year’s Rookie of the Year, Scotty Barnes.
“Okay, it was a good play,” he said.
We don’t know exactly what Ferrell was doing in Portland. Ferrell has no history as a Blazer fan.
Ferrell also teamed up with one of the Raptors’ official ambassadors, Drake, in 2017 for a now-famous television promotion for the NBA’s annual awards ceremony, which also featured former Raptors DeMar DeRozan.
Ferrell mentioned Drake on Saturday and asked if anyone on the Raptors bench knew his number.
“Get the Drake,” he yelled.
Open Gym also captured the final moments of the game as the Raptors players made their way to the Portland crowd and a sizable crowd of Raptors fans dispersed to celebrate Toronto’s victory.
