COVID-19 outbreak causes temporary closure at Inpatient Unit at Clinton hospital

The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) has declared an outbreak of COVID-19 in the inpatient ward at the Clinton Public Hospital site.

The unit is currently barred from entry until further notice, according to a news release.

The HPHA said an outbreak refers to two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases among patients or team members who may have been infected in hospital.

Family and caregiver presence on the unit is restricted, with the exception of end-of-life palliative patients. According to the HPHA, the care team will provide regular updates and opportunities to families and caregivers.

A COVID-19 outbreak was declared over the weekend in the inpatient ward of Seaforth Community Hospital.


on fridaythe HPHA announced that the emergency room at Seaforth Community Hospital will be temporarily closed Sunday night due to a “sudden shortage of medical personnel.”

“With COVID-19 still rampant in our community, we want everyone to

protection to help prevent the spread,” said Erica Jensen, Manager of Quality, Patient Safety and Infections.
