This year’s flu shot will be free for everyone in Quebec, the provincial government announced Friday.

Previously, Quebec citizens, who were not considered at risk of serious complications from the flu, had to pay out-of-pocket to get the flu vaccination.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenza, and COVID-19.

“[Those factors]coupled with the imminent arrival of the holiday season, justified expanding access to vaccines against influenza.

This is a reversal. Last week, Quebec’s public health director, Dr Luc Boileau, said the Quebec Immunization Commission does not recommend giving anyone a free flu shot.

A statement on Friday said the decision was made “after consultation with public health officials.”

Speak with CBC Montreal breaking dawn On Friday morning, Boileau said it was a “completely extraordinary situation” with so much virus circulating in Quebec.

He said the decision to make the shots more widely available was partly because at-risk individuals weren’t getting the shots as much as the government wanted them to.

“At the moment, we are not observing what should be done for absorption,” he said.

“[This measure] Primarily to allow and encourage these people to be vaccinated, but also to make vaccination accessible to everyone who feels more comfortable. ”

Those who have already paid for the vaccine will not be refunded, according to the statement.
