Yellowknife hosting pop-up syphilis-HIV clinic on World Aids Day

NWT Health Authorities will operate a drop-in STI testing facility in Yellowknife on World AIDS Day, Thursday, December 1.

Health officials say residents can visit a pop-up syphilis and HIV testing center at the Center Square Mall from 9am to 6pm to “get a quick STI test without an appointment.” in the news release.

Officials said they would also offer door prizes. According to the news release, one of the purposes of the pop-up center is to reduce stigma around STI testing.

“Health care providers and health promoters are on the scene around the clock to promote sexual health. Shouldn’t we be afraid,” health officials said.

“With STI rates rising across the country, including here in the NWT, getting a quick and easy test allows everyone to participate in protecting themselves and each other.”
