Electronic Arts has reportedly canceled a single-player game set in the Titanfall and Apex Legends universes. This follows on from EA’s disappointing financial outlook this quarter.
according to bloomberg, the unnamed and unannounced game was codenamed Titanfall Legends. Designer Mohammad Alavi was reportedly overseeing it until he left EA in early 2022. The game’s development team consists of his 50 people, and EA is reportedly helping them find other roles within the company. However, those not assigned other roles will reportedly be fired and given severance pay.
EA recently made some notable announcements, including delaying Star Wars: Jedi Survivor to April 28 and halting production of both Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile.
Apex Legends is much more popular than Titanfall, but Respawn Entertainment wants fans to know Titanfall is still part of the developer’s identity, hinting at future announcements. Possibly. Unfortunately, it looks like it will be a while before a new potential Titanfall game is released.
GameSpot’s review of Titanfall 2 stated: It’s a fluid shooter. It’s a spectacular game. ”
