Striking Distance Studios has announced the contents of The Callisto Protocol’s Season Pass, revealing that several players’ death animations are locked behind additional purchases.

VGC reportsgame steam page Updated to include Season Pass content, revealing that 13 kill animations (which were a prominent feature in the game’s marketing) will not be included in the regular $59.99 game version.

To experience all animations, you will need to purchase the season pass instead. It’s currently only advertised as part of the $79.99 Digital Deluxe Edition (or $249.99 Collector’s), but will likely sell separately for around $20.

The Season Pass also includes story DLC that allows players to “dive deeper into the terrifying secrets of the Callisto Protocol,” the Outer Way Skin Collection, and two new modes brought to you by the Contagion and Riot Bundles.

The Contagion bundle includes 13 new death animations, possibly the hardest mode in the game. This plague mode includes “ammo and health drops, customized difficulty, permadeath, and another collection of skins.

The Riot Bundle contains what sounds like Callisto Protocol’s Survival Mode. “Collect credits to upgrade your weapons or forge new weapons to survive the onslaught as best you can in Riot,” reads the Steam page. is also included.

Striking Distance Studios is helmed by Glen Schofield, one of the makers of the 2008 horror game Dead Space. Given this, it’s no surprise that the Callisto Protocol makes grizzly death a major part of its DNA.

Whether it’s being mulched inside an industrial machine, having his head bitten by a hungry monster, or being cut in half by a giant fan blade, the studio already knows that protagonist Jacob Lee is black. It introduces various disastrous ways that you can meet your end while exploring . Iron prison colony.

Callisto Protocol was so mercilessly bloody that it failed to pass the Japanese rating agency, so the Japanese version of the game was canceled altogether.

Continuing the theme, the developers also included achievements to see all the death animations in the game, but this probably doesn’t include the 13 animations behind the season pass.
