Considered the birthplace of modern Brazil, Salvador is also known for its African-influenced food, 17th century architecture, and welcoming community—a nod to its nickname, “The Capital of Happiness.”

Protecting Brazil’s beauty, together

On behalf of Visit Brasil, Tripadvisor has partnered with a UN Decade for Restoration Flagship project: Reviving Brazil’s Atlantic Rainforest. No other large tropical forest has suffered as much loss as Brazil’s Atlantic Forest, so we are working to restore the forest, bring back its wildlife inhabitants, and help communities make a living from restoring and protecting it. Funding will go towards protecting 100,000 square feet of land, aiming to reconnect the second largest Protected Area in the Interior Atlantic Forest—the Morro do Diabo State Park—to the surrounding forest fragments, creating more space and migration routes so that endangered species will thrive again.
